Marylou H. DiBella, 82, of Newton, died Friday, November 6, 2009, at home. Born in Hackensack, Mrs. DiBella grew up in Flushing, New York, lived in Rochelle Park, then lived in Piscataway for 23 years before moving to Newton fourteen and a half years ago. She was a secretary for New York Life Insurance Co. in New York City in her early years. A member of St. Josephs R.C. Church, Mrs. DiBella was a member of the church choir, a member of the Columbiettes and had worked at the St. Josephs Thrift Shop. She was a former member of Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, where she was also a long time choir member. The daughter of the late Theodore and Irma Holmes, Mrs. DiBella is survived by her husband of 59 years, Eugene; four children, Patricia Kreger and her husband, John Hagedorn, of Washington Grove, Maryland, Donna DiBella and her husband, Gene Biringer, of Appleton, Wisconsin, Peter DiBella and his wife, Elaine, of Andover Township, and James DiBella of Elmira, New York; eleven grandchildren; and one brother, Theodore Holmes, of New York City. Funeral services will begin at 11:15 s.m. on Wednesday at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, followed by a 12 noon Mass of Christian Burial at St. Josephs R.C. Church in Newton. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, New York.
